philosophy
Music lessons should be fun! At Jambo Music we are entirely dedicated to inspiring our students and nurturing their love for music.
We believe that all people feel music in their own way. We guide with a positive and nurturing spirit, always welcoming each student’s unique musicality and personality. Our teachers are experienced, devoted and patient mentors. They are flexible in their teaching methodologies, finding the ways and genres through which to ignite each student’s passion.
Learning an instrument brings…
JOY
Learning a musical instrument should be a fun and joyful experience, a rewarding journey of discovery for both the student and teacher.
GROWTH
Learning an instrument builds immense cognitive, physical, emotional and spiritual growth in a person.
COMMUNITY
We believe in building a musical community. Through ensemble playing, students learn to collaborate with others, become better listeners and effective leaders. This group participation carries with it a sense of camaraderie, accomplishment and joy to all involved.
Positivity
Our Teachers focus on fostering a positive learning space, building on a culture of connection, collaboration and support. We share students’ successes with other students, motivating and inspiring their own successes. We hold frequent performance events and encourage students to attend each other’s performances. We form collaborative ensembles, and pair younger and older students together when little ones need a little extra support and/or inspiration.
BENEFITS
There is an ever growing body of research showing the value of developing musical sensibility within children. The cognitive structures associated with processing and understanding music are primed right through a child's development and it is the ideal time for exposure to musical immersion. Learning an instrument lights up all areas of a child's brain, from creative thinking to problem solving as students learn the importance of perseverance and discipline. By building strategies in order to overcome creative and physical challenges associated with their musical growth, students build inner strength and emotional resilience.
